Enabling next generation technology and empowering our teams to be their best is what Shabiya loves about her busy role at HG.

With responsibility for the strategic planning, implementation and operation of HG’s IT systems network, infrastructure, technical and operational software, Shabiya provides our clients and staff with industry leading technology. She also supports our focus on operational excellence and is responsible for the governance, maintenance, and implementation of cyber security.

Shabiya first trained as a secondary school teacher, but a career change saw her moving into computer science and the IT Industry. Her blend of qualifications provides a unique skillset to work with people to understand their needs and easily communicate technical solutions.

"I’m not afraid of a challenge and thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment where collaboration is critical,” she says.

When she’s not immersed in work, Shabiya enjoys hiking, spending time with her teenage son and researching or reading about new tech.

As well as her formal qualifications, Shabiya is a Chartered IT Professional from the BCS Institute and a Certified Technologist on the New Zealand Board of IT Professionals. She is also a certified Microsoft Engineer.
