Gillian Crowcroft
Technical Director - EnvironmentWith a keen mind for strategy, policy and science, Gillian relishes using critical thinking to overcome fresh challenges.
Every day she applies her analytical and problem-solving skills to the environmental space, collaborating and exploring options to deliver great outcomes for HG clients.
Gillian’s expertise helps to create amazing, resilient communities right across New Zealand, and enables our clients to deliver projects that meet environmental legislation and enhance sustainability outcomes.
“We’re always up for finding innovative solutions and identifying new opportunities for our clients. Keeping on top of the RMA and Three waters reforms, new national policies and new regulations is critical for us so that we can provide advice for clients needing to navigate the huge changes.”
Gillian has a particular interest in freshwater management. In 2021 she was appointed an independent Freshwater Commissioner by the Minister for the Environment – providing her with further opportunity to contribute to freshwater plan decision-making.
“That’s exciting,” she says, “because we’re already starting to see the environmental benefit of the freshwater reforms, and we can leave a better legacy.”
Outside work, Gillian takes every opportunity to escape from the city - either in the bush, at the beach, or exploring small town Aotearoa, New Zealand.
