Ben Rhodes

Always a man with a plan, Ben Rhodes has been setting out his well-conceived strategy for nearly 20 years now. 

After a brief but invaluable stint in London in the early 2000s, Ben returned home to Canterbury where he has continued to put his plans into action ever since.

Today he manages a team of five across Christchurch, Queenstown and Wellington, where he is involved in all things planning - whether that be land development regional consenting, policy or strategy work.

He is currently focused on delivering a Greater Christchurch Spatial Plan.

“I haven’t been at HG too long, but I have always felt welcome and included,” he says. “The people are friendly and great to work with. We have fun, sure, but everyone knows their stuff, and we’re exactly the right size to retain a friendly and connected culture.” 

Outside work, Ben loves spending time with his family, camping, or spending time at the beach or out in the surf. Being a Cantabrian, he also enjoys being a rugby coach, and having a beer and a laugh with his mates at the pub.
