Joseph Carey
Graduate Surveyor,
Survey
'I chose to begin my career at HG because I heard it was a great place to work, with lots of interesting projects to get involved in, and people who care about helping you develop your career.
I really enjoy working on a wide variety of projects, from large subdivisions to small one-off topographic surveys.
One of the best things about HG is the people. Everyone is encouraged to further themselves, and everyone is keen to learn from one another and share their knowledge, regardless of their experience.'
Karuna Hambammer
Graduate Engineer,
Water Resources
'I find the managers at HG really supportive. Tasks are handed over with clear direction, but with space to figure things out on my own. For times when I’m feeling stuck, help is never far away. I have also been given lots of training opportunities to help with my professional development.
There's huge variety in the work that I do. I enjoyed working on the resource consent renewals for the wastewater treatment plants in South Waikato. Stakeholder and iwi engagement was a big focus which has been a new experience for me.'
Bryn Pattison
Graduate Engineer,
Land Development
'I've found the graduate programme really supports my career objectives. My team leaders and mentors provide so much support, knowledge and experience to help me develop as an engineer.
What I enjoy most about HG is getting to work on a broad range of projects; from large scale greenfield residential developments to brownfield shopping centres. The work gives me a real sense of achievement and pride in contributing to our countries infrastructure.
I've also found the people and culture really welcoming. I’ve made some great friends, and I look forward to helping shape the future of engineering alongside them.'
