The Auckland Airport’s Quad office campus is a comprehensively planned and pedestrian friendly commercial precinct. Our own Airport office is located in Quad 5.

Quad 7 on Leonard Isitt Drive is one of the latest developments at The Quad. The 9000m2, 5 Green Star rated building is an important piece of the larger Auckland Airport masterplan in both location and scale.

Our work

Harrison Grierson was responsible for the structural and civil design of the Warren and Mahoney designed building. We’ve also undertaken the building survey set out and construction observation.

The elegant structural form is an upper four-storey box supported on a double-storey base with diagonal steel V-brace columns. It also features large cantilevers to both ends of the building to give the structure a floating form. Other challenges included founding the building on 27-metre-long screw piles due to the soft ground.

We completed the design using BIM 3D modelling techniques with extensive coordination with the project team.

Result

The overall result is a stunning addition to the Quad Precinct, and a distinctive statement at the main entry to the airport.
